MeganPlace Innovations

Megan is the new face of MarketPlace!

Not really … but she has been used as a stand-in for our photography quite a bit. And now, for the first time, she is making her motion picture debut … well sort of.

This is just a goofy video we threw together after an intense two-day food photo shoot. There is no plan, no plot, and not much thought involved. It was more like an afterthought. We said, “Hey, we have this great-looking set complete with the dream kitchen, ideal lighting, and stylized food. Megan’s here, and this camera shoots 1080p. Let’s try some stuff!”

24 clips, and an hour and half later, this video was the result. We hope you enjoy it!

Bawk, Bawk

People frequently ask me what I’m inspired by as a designer. Last time someone asked me this I said, “chickens.” I know your thinking, Chickens, really? Now don’t go imagining those closely packed in factory farms with nothing but white chickens. Think heritage free-range chickens. (more…)

Walking the Walk

MarketPlace is doing a little self-promotion. Why? We were full with excuses. “We don’t need to advertise, all of our business comes from word of mouth.” Well, that’s been nice, but as advocates of good advertising, we know first hand that advertising reaches those we can’t reach on our own…and its a brand building tool. Particibrands

Paticibrands

I love this word…’Particibrands’. Trendwatching.com (an entity I have a strong affection for) defines the Particibrands trend as ‘to remain relevant, brands have no choice but to follow, adapt to, but most importantly participate in consumer culture, in all its joyous chaos and excitement.” (more…)

Design, Vegetable, Miracle

Every Winter I miss the smell of fresh cut grass and the sunny weekends spent down at the creek and find myself wondering, “Why do I live in a part of the country where there are four distinct seasons?” But this Winter, I managed to break that cycle. A friend of mine gifted me a fabulous book, Animal, Vegetable, Miracle. It’s a story of a family that documented a year of procuring as much of their own food as possible from their own backyards or from neighboring farms. I found myself savoring every word on each page, not wanting the book to end. (more…)

Communicating Peace of Mind

If you live near or around St. Louis, you know Schnucks Markets….the friendliest stores in town. MarketPlace is proud to partner with Schnucks to develop their Peace of Mind at Schnucks™ campaign. MarketPlace strategized with Schnucks’ management team to first introduce Peace of Mind Pricing™. Thousands of grocery shoppers were asked how Schnucks could better meet their needs. At the top of the list was ‘everyday low pricing’ on the foods they buy most. (more…)

Health & Wellness…No Longer a Niche

The value proposition for health & wellness products, whether it be foods or ingredients or even capabilities, can be tough to communicate clearly.  Everyone knows that health & wellness is now a standard, not a niche, however not every company offers the same products or capabilities in delivering what businesses need and ultimately what the end-consumer wants in achieving success in this ever evolving market. We Hosted a Great Graphic Design Meetup in November!

We were delighted to host the Graphic Design Meetup in our office recently. The Graphic Design Meetup is a group of individuals who are in the graphic design field, or who are interested in learning more about the graphics community here in St. Louis.

This is our second time hosting. It’s a great opportunity to network with others in our field (we have great employees who actually came directly from interactions at the Meetup!), and the conversation is always insightful. We had a great turnout with about 15 people attending.

It’s also an opportunity for foodies like us to share some tasty creations and quality libations with a captive audience! The get-together started off with some casual networking while we awaited everyone’s arrival. (more…)
