Prairie Farms Yogurt Project

Prairie Farms, a major producer and distributor of dairy products in the Midwest, wished to create new refrigerated yogurt packaging for their original and light product lines, which included 27 different individual packages. MarketPlace created numerous package designs based on market research, competitive analyses, and consumer testing, which revealed the updated Prairie Farms packaging options were preferred over leading national yogurt brands 3 to 1.

A final design was chosen that enhanced the company’s latest rebranding efforts, which were in development by MarketPlace concurrently with this project. MarketPlace collaborated with packaging printers, regulatory groups, and food photographers to ensure successful output in preparation for the go-to-market plan.

A comprehensive promotions campaign was developed, which encompassed B2B sales materials, billboards, point-of-sale materials, and an online promotional campaign that included e-blasts and coupons.

The result was a complete packaging revamp that complemented the updated brand and successfully competed with other yogurts on store shelves. Sales from the new package, which underwent a reduction in size, were almost immediately recouped during its introduction to the market.
