Market Place The Food Marketing Agency
capabilities

We’re MarketPlace, the Food Marketing Agency. We know what that means, but we also know that the words “food,” “marketing,” and “agency” mean a lot of things to a lot of people.

Why “food”? Because we’re singularly devoted to it. It’s what we spend every working moment on: production, packaging, promotion, trends, regulations, and research. We know how complex the food industry is, and we’re intimately acquainted with every step of the process, from ground to supply to manufacture to package to store to shelf to, finally, the consumer. We’re singularly focused on and experienced in the food (and beverage and ingredients) industry.

“Marketing,” bottom line, means that we create custom marketing strategies and solutions for both B2B and B2C companies in the food, beverage, and ingredients industry. We develop brand identities, robust websites, e-tools and apps. We lead strategy sessions. We create campaigns, presentations, promotions, and sales tools. We produce retail packaging and photography. We help companies strengthen their brands and sell their products. We help companies navigate existing trends and anticipate future ones. We help companies make money.

We confess, we’re an agency. “Agency” is an oft-misunderstood term. We’re fun people, but when we’re at work, we work, and we work smart and in the best interest of those we partner with. We’re accomplished designers, technology specialists, content developers, and marketing strategists, and together, we provide both the inside experience and outside perspective necessary to help both B2B and B2C companies succeed.

We love food marketing. If you’re a food, beverage, or ingredients company, you’re the kind of company we want to partner with. If you’re a company with another type of consumable, like pharma or pet—you’re also the kind of company we want to work with. Food, beverage, or ingredients, B2B or B2C, we want to partner with you. We’re MarketPlace, the Food Marketing Agency.

The History of MarketPlace

Phil Landau, an ambitious 6th grader and member of an intensely entrepreneurial family, wrote a paper outlining his plans for the future. Though his cursive was ornate, his aspirations were simple and Landau-esque: marry the girl of his dreams and start a family business.

Many years later, Phil managed Informatics for Givaudan, the largest global flavor company in the world. He also managed to meet Tracy, who worked in Marketing Communications and Product Commercialization. A short time later (things move fast in the business world), they married, and another short time later, understanding the degree to which B2B companies need help relating to their customers and their customers’ customers, they created MarketPlace, the culmination of Phil’s passion for business and vast technical expertise and Tracy’s extensive knowledge of the food industry and food marketing.

Intelligence and plans firmly established, the next step was to hire a talented design resource to bring Tracy’s marketing messages and creative ideas to life. That was Josh Schipkowski, who was convinced that the plan was sound, so he joined the team and, within three months, the operation moved to an office space in Lafayette Square.

Having successfully helped many B2B companies market their brands and their products, MarketPlace began doing the same with B2C companies, using its inside knowledge of the B2B world to help these companies navigate the complex issues related to regulation, production, and manufacturing, for starters.

After years of consistent growth and expansion, the MarketPlace team moved again, this time to the Moon Brothers building downtown. We’ve been at this location for about four years and, having grown every year since our inception, we’re busting at the seams. With more than twice the number of full-time employees than when we moved here, we’ll be moving soon to a new space, and we’re excited, not because we like moving but because each move has expanded the ways we can serve the B2B and B2C companies whose brands and products we help sell to their marketplace. For the last decade, that’s what we’ve done, and because it’s our passion, that’s what we’ll continue to do.
